International Women’s Day 2023 celebrated at Reasi

Reasi : Like other parts of the country International women’s day also celebrated today with great zeal and enthusiasm on the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality” in Reasi District.

The function was organised by District Social Welfare Officer Reasi under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal. While Putting feather of enthusiasm on the occasion and with the dedicated lines on Jhansi ki Rani, Lakshmi Bai, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal congratulated all gathered women and emphasised on “Gender Equality” and multiple roles played by women.

She shared her views on elevated status of woman in our society, and challenges faced by women in day to day life. Vice Chairman, District Development Council Reasi, Shajra Kouser and Chairman Block Development Council Reasi, Parveen Begum while speaking on the occasion illustrated various examples of female warriors and the achievements of women in all sectors, whether in working places or in families or households.

Asserting that gender equality is not only a fundamental right, but a necessary foundation for a sustainable and prosperous society, Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi, Jyoti Rani Salathia, in her welcoming address, stressed upon the role and importance of women in every sector, to make all the services digitized and making the latter available to general masses at their doorsteps.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Geetanjali Gupta from SMVD Narayana, said that besides working in offices, all women should take care of their health; both mental and physical, as a woman is the creater of families.

She laid stressed on menstrual hygiene and healthy diet. Sharing her views, Principal JNV Reasi, Sangeeta Shonik laid focus on Right to Education for women, Gender Equality and celebrations of births of baby girls and share her views on importance of women in framing healthy society.

Meanwhile, Vijay Kumari, Sub Inspector, Jammu Kashmir Police enlightened the audience about the women in distress, the challenges faced by rural women and assistance provided by district Police in collaboration with Legal authorities and district OSC.

In continuation to the celebrations, Central Administrator Reasi, presented the working of District One Stop Center, District Hub for Empowerment of Women and Women Helpline (in collaboration).

She also presented the basic women oriented schemes running in the district through PPT. To celebrate International Women’s Day, young artists of the district gave their performances in dance, poetry and song. Besides local ladies and youth from Bhomag Block also reflected traditional performances on “Gitroo” and “Pakhan”.

Meanwhile, a theme based Rangoli was also created by the officials of District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Reasi, to spread awareness among the public. The celebrations were culminated with the felicitation ceremony, wherein all the female DDCs, BDCs , officials of OSC, DHEW, Self Help Groups were felicitated for being the role models in the society.

On the occasion, girls and women of district Reasi, who had done exemplary work, were also felicitated by District Administration Reasi including Vijay Kumari (Sub Inspector, Jammu Kashmir Police), Smt Anju Devi (Entrepreneur in Mushroom cultivation), various Self Help Groups and Sports Persons.
