Highlighting the importance of World Forests Day, the Deputy Commissioner underlined the importance of understanding the value, significance and contribution of the forests in balancing the life cycle on the earth.He sought cooperation from public representatives, community organizations and the general public for addressing issues like deforestation and denudation, which pose a serious challenge to the green gold.The Deputy Commissioner asked the people to celebrate the International Forests Day by understanding that forests protect and sustain us.
He also urged the general public to undertake various activities like tree planting campaigns, photo exhibitions and sharing of messages and information through social media to generate awareness about forest conservation.After conducting plantation drive at Gool, DFO, Ramban, informed that more than 1.42 Lakh plants like Deodar, Kail, Chir, Banj and other species have been planted by the Ramban Division in newly established closures across the district during the current financial year. SDPO Gool and various other officers also participated in the programme.Forest Division, Batote also observed World Forestry Day in block Gandhri. DFO, Batote informed that about 1.76 lakh sapling have been planted across the Forest Division, Batote since October 2020.Similarly, Social Forestry Division, celebrated the day in collaboration with NGO Nation First in various panchyats in which the DFO Social Forestry, Ramban, Mahesh Thakur, PRIs from Panchayat Kanga, Maitra Govindpora , Bagna, Seri , Sumber and Rajgarh besides representatives of a local NGO and other volunteers participated.On the occasion saplings of different species were planted, participants were also provided Plants.
