Govt MHSS Sawjian organises Rangoli Competition to celebrate Diwali

Poonch : Government Model Higher Secondary School Sawjian Poonch today organised an inter-class Rangoli design Competition. The students dropped their bags, pooled their ideas, got on their knees, and chalked designs on the concrete floor.

Soon after, they filled the patterns with rice, salt, turmeric, flowers, floral petals or flour- delicating attempting to stay within the lines and bring together their creation. And in about two hours’ time, they completed their masterpieces and were ready to tell the judges what those designs signified.

“We wanted to do something different from all the other schools and we wanted to make it memorable since it is our last year in the school,” Shahnawaz, a 12th class student, highlighted.

Principal Anwar Khan visited all the rooms where Rangoli Designs were drawn and appreciated the students and their mentors Qamer un Nissa, Jyoti Jamwal, Firdous Anjum, Rashmi Sudan, Arif Malik, Raghunath Verma and Mohd Shafi.

While addressing the students Anwar Khan said“It’s very inclusive, it brings people together of every ethnicity, every belief, every background and it not only brings the young people together but it involves their teachers and parents too.

“So, it is a very unifying experience,” he posited. Saleem Reshi cultural cell incharge of the school arranged the competition. At the end of the programme Chocolates were distributed amongst the students to mark the Deewali celebration.
