GDC Baramulla Hosts Interaction Meet of Prominent Members of Sikh Community/Students

Government Degree College, Baramulla organized an interactive meet of prominent members of Sikh community/students of district Baramulla with the college administration on April 08, 2021. The meeting witnessed a thorough participation of students and faculty alike besides prominent Sikh members of Baramulla. The participants threadbare discussed a variety of ideas and issues with the chair and assured him all support to carry forward the mission of the college.

Baramulla : Government Degree College, Baramulla organized an interactive meet of prominent members of Sikh community/students of district Baramulla with the college administration on April 08, 2021. The meeting witnessed a thorough participation of students and faculty alike besides prominent Sikh members of Baramulla. The participants threadbare discussed a variety of ideas and issues with the chair and assured him all support to carry forward the mission of the college. The participants put forth various suggestions for the development of the college. Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Principal of the college, in his inagural address, hailed the contribution of Sikh community in the long history and development of the college. He further said that Sikh students have always brought laurels to the college by their outstanding performance in the field of academics, sports and other co-curricular activities. Various issues faced by the Sikh students also found a mention in the meeting. The college administration assured all help and support to the Sikh community’s’ concerns, notably increasing the enrolment of Sikh students in the college, organizing different events and activities for promoting Punjabi language, enriching College library with Punjabi literature, among other things.Prof. Ajmair Singh Sodhi, Convener, Minorities Committee of the college highlighted the contributions of Sikh community in the development of the college and introduced the invited guests.

Karan Singh Talib, President Sahit Sabha, Baramulla, S. Tejpal Singh, General Secretary, Shromani Gurudwara Prabandik Committee, Baramulla, S. Jaipal Singh, Chairman Sikh Missionary College, Baramulla Circle, Dr. Satwant Singh, former Principal, GDC, Tangdhar, Kupwara, Dr. Charanjeet Singh, Senior Physician, GMC, Baramulla, S. Salinder Singh Bali, former AEE, PWD, S. Daljit Singh, Punjabi Lecturer, JET College of Education, Baramulla, S. Satinder Singh, Punjabi Lecturer, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Dangiwacha, Prof. Jasdeep Singh, Assistant Professor, GDC for Women, Baramulla, S. Ichpal Singh, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Dangiwacha, S. Mohan Singh Shant, former District Accounts Officer Baramulla, S. Narinder Pal Singh, President Management Committee, Guru Nanak Dev Model High School, Baramulla, and S. Gurnam Singh, Renowned Punjabi poet and Religious Scholar.Earlier, a similar interactive meet was held exclusively for Sikh students wherein many issues concerning the Sikh students were thoroughly deliberated and vouched to be resolved by the college administration at the earliest. The interaction culminated with formal vote of thanks by Dr. Baljeet Singh, Head, Department of Anthropology of the college. Prof. Abdul Majeed Chalkoo, Cordinator IQAC and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
