Elderline hosts Sensitisation programme at Kishtwar

DC asks for providing shelter to homeless Senior citizens

Kishtwar : An Awareness-cum-Sensitisation programme on Elderline 14567 was held today here in the VC room of DC office complex Kishtwar. Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav also reviewed the functioning of the Elderline in the District and held a series of deliberations.

Among others, the programme was attended by Addl. SP Rajinder Singh; SDM Chhatroo, Inderjeet Singh Parihar; SDM Paddar, Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma; SDM Marwah, Dr Mohsin Raza; DSWO, Zubair Ahmed; Tehsildar Kishtwar, Umar Muneeb, TSWOs and Field Response Leader (FRL) JK Elderline.

Besides, the Tehsildars of other tehsils attended the meeting through virtual mode. Elderline is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India and it is being implemented by HelpAge India in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Government of J&K.

The helpline number 14567 is available for elderly and senior citizens from 8 am to 8 pm, to seek any legal, medical, emotional or any other kind of help.On this occasion FRL, JK Elderline gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on the functioning of Elderline.

He also discussed the role of different stakeholders involved in the scheme. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the SDMs to designate a room in all the PHCs as a temporary shelter place for homeless Senior citizens till they are shifted to Senior Citizen Home established at District Headquarter Kishtwar.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed FRL, JK Elderline to send regular inputs to the ministry and suggested making the helpline operational round the clock.He also assured full support from the District Administration end to the Elderline for its smooth functioning.
