Deputy Commissioner Poonch discuss Strategies for Curbing Illegal Mining in MDDLTF meeting

Poonch : DC Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary today chaired a meeting of MDDLTF in his office chamber to discuss the reinforcement of measures to curb illegal mining and related offences in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik; Additional Superintendent of Police, Mushim Ahmed; Executive Engineer, I&FC, Vaneet Vaid; SDM Mendhar, Jahangir Khan;Tehsildar (Hqr.), Jhangir Hussain; Tehsildar Haveli, Anjum Bashir Khan Khattak; Tehsildar Mandi, Shazad Latief Khan; Tehsildar Balakote, Pawan Kumar; District Mining Officer, Javid Iqbal; Tehsildar Surankote, Akbar Khan, Naseem Hussain Shah from PCC besides other concerned officers/ officials were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the officers discussed various strategies to curb illegal mining and ensure strict compliance with the law. The DMO was directed by the chair to take strict action against those involved in illegal mining and ensure that repeated offenders are seized and detained under the preventive section. The concerned magistrate will also provide assistance in this regard.
The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the need to clear the NOC pendency and randomly check illegal mining with the coordination of ACR/SDM.The Deputy Commissioner issued clear directions to officers to ensure compliance with the mining rules and regulations to prevent any damage to the environment and save loss to the state exchequer.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the ASP to check illegal mining at the entry point of Poonch and book the offenders. He emphasized that no mining activity should take place between 6 pm to 6 am, and the police should ensure its implementation.
To further curb illegal mining, the Deputy Commissioner ordered joint exercises in each tehsil. A team of Tehsildar, DMO, IFC, and Police, with the supervision of SDM and ACR, will conduct these exercises.The Deputy Commissioner directed all the concerned officers to identify hotspots and act to plug the gaps wherever they exist.
