Delegation of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust calls on Lt Governor

Jammu : A thirty-member delegation of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, at the Raj Bhavan here today.The members of the delegation led by Chairman GDCT, Adv Shah Mohammed Choudhary expressed their gratitude towards the Lt Governor for complete implementation of long due Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006.The delegation credited the LG administration for ushering a new era of prosperity for the nomadic community that remained deprived of its due rights in the last several decades.During the interaction, the members also raised several issues including tribal hostels in all districts, promotion of traditional games, strengthening of Mobile schools, among others.

The Lt Governor while interacting with the members of the delegation said that under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the socio-economic welfare of the tribal people of J&K is among the priority areas of the UT government. He asserted that the administration has taken several decisions in the last few months which will end the decades of discrimination.Speaking on the employment opportunities for Youth, the Lt Governor urged the members of the delegation to connect the youngsters from the community with various schemes of Mission Youth launched by the UT administration so that the benefits are percolated to all genuine beneficiaries.The Lt Governor assured the delegation that the UT Government is steadfastly working on all fronts for the development and welfare of nomadic communities of J&K. He further said that all their suggestions and points will be given due consideration by the concerned authorities.
