DDC conducts extensive tour of Rajouri township; inspects progress on developmental works

Rajouri : To inspect the physical progress on developmental works, District Development Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan today conducted an extensive tour of the Rajouri town.Among the others, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Mehmood; ExEn PWD, Maqbool Hussain and Tehsildar, Mohd Rafeeq besides the President MC Rajouri, Mohammad Arif also accompanied the DDC during his tour.The work on projects inspected included 750 LPM capacity Oxygen Concentrator plant at GMC&AH, Circular road, Bella road and double laning of Abdullah bridge.While inspecting the progress on the 750 LPM capacity Oxygen Concentrator plant being installed at GMC&AH, the DDC asked the concerned officers to work in double shifts to ensure that the project is completed within the shortest possible time. He said completion of the project is imperative to maintain medical oxygen supply in the GMC&AH for treating critical Covid patients.
At Circular road, , it was informed that the work on retaining wall and carbonation of the road is in progress. The DDC asked the concerned Executive Engineer to speed up the work on the road so that it can be completed within the shortest possible time. The Circular Road is an important alternate link within the town connecting New bridge to Tariq bridge, thereby reducing the overall distance by around 4-5 kilometers, the DC was informed.Regarding the progress on Bella road, which connects Alternate Abdullah Bridge to Rajouri –Thanamandi road, bypassing congested Gujjar Mandi Chowk, the executive agency apprised that some structures coming in the alignment of the road need to be removed. The DDC asked the concerned officer from the Revenue Department to immediately demolish the structures and submit the report in this regard.While inspecting the double-laning of 120 meter Abdullah Bridge, it was informed that the project has been approved under languishing scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 4.78 crore.The DDC was apprised that nearly fifty percent work on the bridge stands completed and the rest would be completed at the earliest.
