DC Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad reviews implementation of the directions issued by Lieutenant Governor on various Public matters

53 new Dairy Units approved in District to enhance Milk production, 30 new Fish Units established to increase Fish production

Srinagar : In order to review the implementation of the directions of the Lieutenant Governor passed in the meeting held on September 09 at SKICC, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Thusday chaired a meeting of Officers of the line Departments in the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.

Besides, Additional District Development Commissioner, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Muhammad Yaseen Lone and all Zonal and Sectoral officers.At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed all directions point wise and directed the concerned officers and executing agencies to expedite the assigned works so that the targets fixed by the Lieutenant Governor are accomplished well in time.

On the occasion, the DC was apprised that as many as 53 new Dairy Units have been approved by Animal Husbandry Department in Srinagar District to enhance the milk production in order to narrow down the Demand–Supply Gap of Milk Production.

He was informed that against the daily demand of about 4.35 lakh litres of milk, around 2.64 lakh liters of milk is produced per day in the District and measures are in the pipeline to bridge the demand-supply gap to become self-sufficient in the milk production.

The DC asked the concerned officers to give focused attention towards increasing milk production and encourage young entrepreneurs for establishing dairy units in the District.Similarly, the DC was informed that in the Fisheries sector under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) 25 new Fish Units have been established in different parts of the District to enhance Fish production and simultaneously provide employment avenues to local youth.

Regarding Scholarships, the DC was informed that over 30000 pre- Matric, 5800 Post Matric and around 1300 Merit Cum Means scholarships have been provided to the eligible beneficiaries in the District.

With regard to implementation of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana(PMKMY), a government scheme of Agriculture Department meant for old age protection and social security of Small and Marginal Farmers, the DC was informed that against the target of covering 3000 farmers in the District 2835 farmers have been covered under the scheme so far through a proper survey and left out beneficiaries will be covered soon.

While taking stock of door to door survey for regularization of water connections, the DC was informed that the process is going on in full swing and Rs 6.5 crore have been collected as water fee from the consumers so far.

During the meeting, the DC asked the all line Departments to submit a detailed action plan with regard to employment generation at the earliest. While Action Taken Report with regard to Water Conservation was also sought from all the concerned Departments

Earlier, the DC took a Department wise review of the directions including implementation of Social security /beneficiary-oriented schemes, Saturation under Social Security Schemes and coverage of beneficiaries under Golden Health Cards, Minimizing the gap between the demand & supply of Milk production in the District.

Mechanism for disbursing the scholarship schemes to be made student-friendly, Coverage of eligible beneficiaries and recovery of the amount from the ineligible beneficiaries under PMAY(U).

Similarly, the DC took stock of the action taken by Agriculture and allied Departments with regard to the directions of the Lieutenant Governor in implementation of various schemes including NMSA, PMKMY, RKVY, NFSM, PMKSY, PM-KISAN, Organization of awareness camps for motivation to invest in the fisheries sector, Enhance the coverage under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana for establishment of Trout units, Carp units etc.

The DC also took feedback from the concerned with regard to the directions passed including enhancing the Literacy Rate, Reduction of dropout rates at different levels, Measures for 100% registration of all the illegal connection holders and enhancement of revenue realization under Jal Shakti, Providing of platform for entrepreneurship and the creation of job opportunities, Minimization of gap between cases sponsored and cases sanctioned under different self-employment schemes, Integration of all citizen-centric services with the integrated command and control centre and coordination with Srinagar Smart City Limited for integrating the e-services.
