Rajouri : Elected Representatives of Block Manjakote, Frontline workers of Health Department, Anganwadi workers from ICDS project Manjakote, Government Officials,locals and students walked together in large numbers as part of an anti-drug rally that was organised here by the ICDS Rajouri.
The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal.Among the others, PO ICDS, Showket Malik; SDPO Manjakote, Shamsher Singh; Tehsildar Manjakote, Mohd Javid, and Elected Representatives of Block Manjakote.
Raising slogans and carrying placards, the participants marched in the market of Manjakote, while telling residents and commuters to stay away from drugs.The Deputy Commissioner said that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan has been launched to focus on institutional support and facilitate community outreach programmes to make society free from all kinds of harmful addictions like alcohol, drugs abuse etc.
The rally was organised to raise awareness on the growing menace of drug addiction among youngsters, said Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.He elaborated that there was an immense need to make joint efforts to break the supply chain and bring the perpetrators of drug abuse to the book.
He further informed that district Administration is committed to wean away youth from Drugs and every possible effort should be made in this regard.He urged the participants to disseminate detailed awareness about the ill effects of Drugs in villages and nearby schools against the substance abuse.
Besides, a kabbadi match was also organized by DYSS and DSWO at mini sports stadium Rajouri under the banner “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan”.Pledges were also administered to the participants where they vowed to make Panchayats and Blocks drugs free.
