DC Kupwara Doifode Sagar Dattatray chairs DLAC for Safe Food & Healthy Diets

Kupwara : The District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Safe Food & Healthy Diets today met here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray to discuss the measures for safe food and healthy diets under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the officers to ensure regular market inspection drives and collection of samples so that proper hygiene and safe food is made available for the people in the markets.

He directed the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Food Safety to ensure monitoring of sample records on a regular basis to improve the safe and hygiene standards of the foods. During the meeting, the DC directed the concerned for deputation of two food inspection teams regularly to ensure strict enforcement of FS&S.

To ensure hygiene of food items, the DC directed concerned officers for sealing of those shops which are selling the meat without proper cover. Regarding establishment of slaughterhouses, the DC directed the Municipalities of Kupwara, Handwara and Langate to submit their proposals for establishment of slaughterhouses in all the three towns of the district.

ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; AC Food Safety, MS SDH Kupwara, Police officers and other concerned attended the meeting.
