DC Kathua Rahul Pandey chairs NCORD Committee meet
Kathua : Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the status of anti drug measures besides reviewing the status of PSA cases.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to incidence of drug addiction besides measures taken by law enforcement agencies to curb the menace.
Assistant Drug Controller, Kathua apprised the meeting that out of total 408 medical Wholesale/ Retail shops so far 310 shops have installed CCTV cameras for proper surveillance of sale of over the counter drugs.
The DC asked the Assistant Drug Controller to enforce installation of CCTVs in all pharmaceutical stores across the district. While interacting virtually with ADCs and SDMs, the DC asked them to organise the awareness drives in their respective areas to educate people especially school and college students.
The DC directed the Social Welfare Department to make a list of addicted persons which need proper care and rehabilitation and refer them to the newly established Drug De-addiction Centre at GMC Kathua.
The CMO informed the meeting that two Clinics namely ‘Aas’ and ‘Prayas’ are registered in the district and providing psychiatric treatment for drug addiction related ailments.
It was given out in the meeting that the process of establishing a 25 bedded Drug Deaddiction Rehabilitation Centre is on, wherein proper rehabilitation facilities will be provided through NGO partners.
The meeting also discussed at length issues such as activation of Helpline, identification of cannabis cultivation areas, watchdog mechanism by BSF etc. The ACD was also asked to organise sensitization cum awareness camps on Nasha Mukt Abhiyan at panchayat level.
Earlier, the DC also took a comprehensive review of the status of PSA cases. The SSP Kathua and public Prosecutor apprised the meeting about the conviction status of reported cases.
