DC Baramulla inaugurates Ist Corporate Cricket Tournament at Jehlum Sports Stadium

Baramulla : In order to provide a platform to the youth and channelize their energy in a positive manner, ‘First Corporate Cup cricket tournament’ was today inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in presence of various Senior officers at Jhelum Sports Stadium Baramulla.

The inaugural match was played between DC 11 and R&B 11 while various cricket teams are being introduced from District Administration Baramulla for participation in the tournament.

After inaugurating the tournament, the DC interacted with the participating teams and emphasized upon them to take part in sports activities besides encouraging other youth to follow the same.

She also said that the objectives of organizing this tournament is to explore the hidden talent of budding youth besides giving them opportunity to improve and hone up their skills.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that in order to upgrade and maintain this Jehlum Sports Stadium, an amount of Rs. 90 lakh has been allotted under Aspirational District programme so that the sports activities are carried out without any hassle.

She further said that the District Administration is committed to provide every facility for the youth to channelize their energy in a positive direction besides keeping them away from drug abuse and other social evils.

The DC added that youth engagement in sports activities will also play a significant role in distancing youth from drug addiction which at present has evolved as a big menace.Elaborating further, the DC said that all the facilities will be made available in the Stadium like installation of lights and nets for the convenience of the youth.
