DC Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad Warns action against violators of COVID SOPs

Appeals locals to adopt CAB during social gatherings

Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad today appealed people to strictly follow covid appropriate behavior with ease in restrictions especially during social gatherings.While briefing media about covid scenario in the district, Dr Owais said with ease in restrictions, there have been social and religious gatherings taking place, especially marriages. He urged people to strictly follow covid guidelines during these functions to avoid spread of the virus. He said the government will take action against the violators of covid guidelines and SOPs.DC Bandipora said the Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further. He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the controlled rooms so that action can be taken against violators.

Giving details about covid situation in the district, the DC Bandipora said that the active cases have drastically decreased in the district during the current month and the positivity rate has gone down to the all time low up to 0.21 percent.He said the administration has not lowered the guard but is continuously fighting the pandemic on two fronts- intensive testing and subsequent isolation of patients and the mass vaccination drive launched across the district. He said the administration is conducting nearly 1500-2000 tests per day though it has witnessed less positivity rate. He said there are only 13 active positive cases including 4 fron Hajin block and rest from Bandipora block.Dr Owais said the pandemic is not over yet as the virus is still present in the community. He appealed to people to get tested in case they feel any symptoms so that they can take proper care and isolate to save others from getting infected.DC Bandipora said the 45 plus age group has been fully vaccinated in the district while the vaccination of the 18-45 age group is going on at present. He said 44336 doses of vaccine have been administered to 18-44 years of age as the health workers are visiting far off places to inform the public and appeal to them to get vaccinated.
