Block Diwas: Public Grievances Redressal camp held at Bani

Kathua : As part of Public Outreach Programme, Block Diwas meeting was today held at Block Headquarters Bani where DDC Chairperson Mahan Singh along with Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey listened to the problems and demands of the people.

Block Development Council, Chairperson Bani, Babu Din, BDC Chairperson Duggan, Neelam Devi, Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people attended the outreach programme.

The programme witnessed scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members projecting demands and apprising DC Kathua about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.

The people submitted a memorandum of demands highlighting issues including better road connectivity, drinking water supply in uncovered areas and provision of uninterrupted power supply and other basic amenities.

The main issues highlighted during the programme including provision opening of JK Bank branch in Duggan, opening of PHC, additional rooms for Dhmaan dispensary, road connectivity for HS Mandhera, ultrasound operator for SDH Bani, filling of vacant post of accounts assistant, bridge over Sewa River in lowang area, pending MGNREGA payments.

The DDC Chairperson assured that the matter of filling up the post of ultrasound operator will be taken up at the appropriate forum, further informed that the issue of opening of JK Bank branches has already been taken up with concerned authorities.

The DDC called upon the officers of different departments to make concerted efforts to saturate individual beneficiaries’ schemes in isolated and hilly areas so that socio economic conditions of the people from these areas can be improved.

The DC gave patient hearing to the demands of the people and passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.Responding to the demands highlighted by many individuals and PRI members, the DC said that Block Diwas initiative was aimed at reaching out to the people and listening to their grievances and redressing them in an efficient and coordinated manner.

He stressed upon the officers to prioritise the grievances and redress them in a time bound manner.On electricity related issues in Bani areas, the DC said that funds under RDSS had been issued from higher authorities, further directed XEN PDD to take up maintenance related works under RDSS on priority basis.

CEO Kathua was directed by DC Kathua to make arrangements for deputing teaching staff through rationalization so that education of the students does not suffer.The BRO authorities were directed to address issues concerning them so that smooth road connectivity can be ensured in isolated areas like Bani.

The DC also directed Officers to ensure timely redressal of the complaints put forth by individuals and deputations during the proceedings of block diwas.
