Block Diwas held at Thyan-Kalaroose, Nutnussa-Handwara, Nachiyan- Karnah

Kupwara : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today chaired a Mega Block Diwas function at Thayan Kalaroose to hear the public issues. DDC Member Kalaroos, Ghulam Mustafa; ACD Kupwara, CEO, DSWO, Executive Engineers of R&B, PDD, I&FC; DSHO, AD Food, AD Fisheries, BDO, BMO, block officers, besides, PRIs and people in large number participated in the block diwas.

Addressing the function, the DDC said that some cases of Covid-19 have again emerged recently in J&K UT and appealed to the people to adopt Covid appropriate behaviour by wearing mask, maintaining social distance and using hand hygiene to prevent themselves from spreading the pandemic disease.

Referring to the plastic waste, the DDC stressed the need for eradication of the use of plastic from our daily lives adding that it poses a severe risk of pollution to our water bodies, forests and ecosystem and asked the people to use cloth bags for carrying groceries and other stuff to protect the environment.

He directed the PRIs to make added efforts in complete eradication of the plastic waste from their villages as the use of plastic is now banned at national level. He also directed them to make efforts for conservation of water bodies.

Referring to enrollment under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs), the DDC asked PRIs to identify the people in their areas who are yet to get enrolled under various CSSs including Golden Card, Soil Health Card, PMSBY, PMJJY, Aadhaar seeding for their registration at established Aadhaar enrollment centres.

Regarding employment generation, the DDC appealed to educated unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit under different Government schemes for establishment of income generating units like Bulk Milk Coolers, Walnut processing, Sheep farming and like sectors to earn their livelihood.

The DDC stressed upon the district and sectoral officers to work in a mission mode and ensure timely disposal of the public grievances and completion of developmental works.DDC Member also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, PRIs and senior citizens spoke and put forth their day to day developmental issues of their concerned areas.The DDC heard them patiently and directed the concerned officers for disposal of the issues raised.

The Block Diwas programme was also held at BDO Office Nutnussa under the chairmanship of ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir.SDM Karnah, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather also chaired block diwas at Nachiyan Karnah.

The PRIs and general public participated in the block diwas programmes and projected their developmental issues before the officers of the administration. The officers heard their issues patiently and various issues were resolved on the spot.
