Block Diwas : DC Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmed chairs public outreach programme at Aragam

Meeting public at their doorsteps enables Administration for accurate & on-ground assessment : Dr. Owais Ahmed

Bandipora : Continuing the Block Diwas initiative of LG’s Administration, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Wednesday presided over a public outreach cum grievance redressal camp at Aragam area of Bandipora District.

Dr. Owais said the programme was aimed to get first hand appraisal of the issues faced by the public besides taking welfare schemes to the doorstep of beneficiaries.

The concerned DDC member, PRIs and general public of the area highlighted their issues including transport facility from Bandipora to Chapran and Gorihajin, augmentation of electricity, fencing of schools, availability of staff in schools etc.

DDC member Hajin, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa also raised various issues including JKRTC bus service from Aragam to Srinagar and also demanded bringing various areas on tourism map including Langmarg, Zindapir etc.

The DC after listening to the issues and grievances of the public gave on the spot directions for resolution of maximum grievances and assured proper and fast track redressal of all left out issues.

He asked the officers to ensure 100% saturation of welfare schemes and ensure that no eligible person is deprived of the benefits. Dr. Owais deliberated upon various development measures taken in the area besides apprising the general public regarding various completed and ongoing projects.

He said meeting the public at their doorsteps enables the administration for accurate and on-ground assessment and redressal of issues thereby ensuring maximum and Good Governance to the public.

The DC also directed the officers to be accessible to the people so that the purpose of the Good Governance and maximum Governance initiative is fulfilled. He also highlighted various e-services available for the public and urged the public to take benefit from the online services available.

The public outreach programme also witnessed a free health camp by Health Department Bandipora for providing free medical checkup and medicine to the public. The DC while inspecting the counters established by the health department lauded the efforts of the Health department and their field workers.

He urged the health authorities to organize more camps in far flung areas of the district. Later, the DC also visited Noor Stitching and Designing centre Aragam and interacted with the trainees there.

He asked them to bring the centre under NRLM and take benefits of assistance and marketing for their products. He appreciated the owner of the centre for establishing the centre thereby becoming an employer and providing training and employment to other girls.
