ADDC Baramulla presides-over Block Diwas at Bootapathri Gulmarg

Listens to public Demands/ Grievances

Baramulla : Continuing Weekly public outreach programme across the district, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf today paid visit to Bootapathri Gulmarg where he presided over a daylong Block Diwas programme and listened to the grievances and demands of the people.

Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Chief Education Officer Baramulla G.M Lone, Assistant Commissioner Development Yaar Ali Khan, Sarpanches, Panches, besides several district officers and officials among huge gathering of people were present at the event.

On the occasion, the people projected their demands and apprised ADDC about their grievances which include Road connectivity to the said far flung area, augmentation in education institutions and various other issues pertaining to the welfare of the Gujjar-Bakerwal community.

They also sought up-gradation of health and educational institutions, augmentation of power, water infrastructure etc.Among other demands, the people of the area also sought construction of a shelter house for cattle, which according to them is a long pending demand.

After giving a patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the ADDC assured that district administration will provide active support for development of the said area and also assured them that all their issues and demands shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal.

Addressing the gathering, he said that the purpose of holding such grievance redressal camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on-ground assessment for time bound redressal.Meanwhile, a variety of Gujjar bakerwal cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion depicting the varied nature and cultural diversity of the region and group.

The Cultural Programme was organized by International Gujjar Mahasaba and all tribal coordination committees under the Supervision of General Secretary JKUT International Gujjar Mahasaba, Choudary Nawab Nazir.The Artists presented patriotic songs and renowned poets recited their patriotic poems in Kashmiri, Urdu, Gojri and Pahari.
