Say no to stubble burning-Panchayats, farmers and co-operative societies to get cash awards

267 Nodal Officers and 42 Cluster Officers appointed to check stubble burning in kapurthala

Kapurthala : Punjab Government would provide the cash awards to the Panchayats, farmer groups, individual farmers and cooperative societies upto Rs 50,000 for zero stubble burning.Deputy commissioner kapurthala Deepti Uppal while flagging off the awareness Vans here at DAC, she said that the district administrationhas chalked out a comprehensive plan to encourage the farmers to dispose of the straw in the fields instead of burning it for the protection of the environment.She said that village Panchayats having zero stubble burning will receive Rs.50000 cash award . Apart from this at the block level the farmer group would be awarded Rs. 20,000 and the individual farmers would be awarded Rs. 11,000.Deputy Commissioner said that it would be mandatory to fill in the details of daily work being done for straw management on i-Khet app, On the basis of which cash prizes will be selected.She also said that the district administration has set up a Control Room 86999-07464 through which information about fires in the fields could be provided.

Besides that 267 Nodal Officers and 42 Cluster Officers have been posted in the district for straw management and prevention of fire. Apart from this wall painting is being done at 800 places in the district to create awareness about non-burning of straw.He asked the officials of all SDMs, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Public Relations, Education Department and ITC Mission Sunihara Kal to work with spirit to implement the plan at ground level.She also appealed to the farmers and cooperative societies to make proper use of the machinery provided by the Punjab government for straw management.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) SP Angra, SDM Sultanpur Ranjit Singh, SDM Phagwara Kulpreet Singh, Agriculture Officer Mr. Ashwani, DDPO Niraj Kumar, ITC officials Gotam Nair and others were present.
