Manohar Lal laid the foundation stone of Deendayal Upadhyaya Knowledge Resource Centre

Faridabad : Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal has called upon the alumni to come forward to contribute in making Universities of the State self-reliant. He said that the alumni should adopt their alma-mater and set a target to make it zero Government aid University.The Chief Minister was addressing the Alumni Meet of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad here today. He also laid the foundation stone of Deendayal Upadhyaya Knowledge Resource Centre in the University, to be constructed at a cost of about Rs. 13 crore. This Centre will be the knowledge resource hub of different disciplines in the University. On this occasion, the Chief Minister garlanded the statue of the great Indian scientist Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose installed in the University. The University was named after JC Bose by the Chief Minister in the year 2017. The Chief Minister also planted saplings in the University campus.On this occasion Vice Chancellor Professor Dinesh Kumar apprised the Chief Minister about the development activities and future projects of the University, including the project of the second campus of the University to be built on the Faridabad-Gurugram road. The Chief Minister also gave his suggestions regarding the implementation of the project of the second campus of the university.Addressing the function, the Chief Minister said that the universities would have to adopt the old Gurukul system. Gurukul has been self-sufficient in Indian Education System. Gurukul used to mobilize its resources through Guru-Dakshina. Similarly, universities have to activate the role of alumni to mobilize financial resources.Describing the alumni as the capital of the educational institution, the Chief Minister said that all the universities should create a separate Alumni Cell and create a database from the first batch till date. Interaction between the University Andrew the alumni should be encouraged so that the alumni have a sense of contribution to the development of the institution. He said that if all the universities are successful in doing this, then soon all the universities will be completely or partially free from government aid.

The Chief Minister said that the benefits of government grants should reach the needy. Therefore, Universities should formulate such slabs for fees, in which full fee exemption on the minimum income limit, followed by 50 percent and above full fee. There should also be a provision that if any family wants to bear the fees of another student, it can do so. He said that there are 48 universities in the government and private sector in the state, in which J.C. Bose University has its own distinct name and identity.He said that it is the endeavor of the State Government that government grants reach the needy person, for which the registration Parivaar-Pehchan-Patra has been initiated and, so far 65 lakh families have been registered. He said that Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana has also been started by the government, in which efforts are being made to identify the families having income less than one lakh and to increase their income.Addressing the function, Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries, Sh. Krishna Pal Gurjar appreciated the contribution of the University’s alumni in industrial development. He said that being successful entrepreneurs, the alumni of this institute are partners in the progress of the country by contributing through production, employment and revenue.Earlier, addressing the function Vice Chancellor Professor Dinesh Kumar presented the details of academic and infrastructural development projects of the university. He said that the university is working towards mobilizing its resources so that the dependence of the university on government grants can be reduced.The President of Alumni Association Dr. Navin Sood also spoke on this occasion. At the end of the programme, Registrar Dr. S.K. Garg proposed the formal vote of thanks.During the function, the University called upon the alumni and eminent entrepreneurs to invest in R&D and Innovation facilities in the University.

On the call of Vice Chancellor Professor Dinesh Kumar, alumni and entrepreneurs present on this occasion contributed an amount of Rs. 1 crore to the University and expressed commitment to contribute an amount of Rs. 5 five crore in a phased manner.The Chief Minister also launched J.C. Bose Haryana Start-up Contest-2021. This contest, being organized by the Incubation Foundation of the University, will be continued till November 30, the birth anniversary of Jagadish Chandra Bose, in which the winners will be given a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh for the first prize, Rs. 5 lakh for the second prize and Rs. 3 lakh for the third prize.During the function, the distinguished alumni of the University were also felicitated. These include Raj Bhatia, Managing Director of Bony Group of Companies, Naresh Kumar, Chairman of Deepwater Drilling and Industries, Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises, Sukhdev Singh, Managing Director of Hind Hydraulics and Engineering, well-known voice-over artist and entrepreneur Shammi Narang, Dr. Rakesh Mudgal, Vice Chancellor of D.Y. Patil Deemed University, Kolhapur, Kanwaljeet Jawa, Managing Director of Dainik Airconditioning India, Kailash Chandra Gupta, Director Defense Estates, Western Command, Arun Bhatia, Managing Director of Carrier Global Corporation, Anil Kumar Bhardwaj, Advisor of TRAI Broadcasting Services, Vinay Khungar, Managing Director, Carrier Commercial Refrigeration and Mohit Vohra, Managing Director of MV Electrosystems and Jitender Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Faridabad. Another eminent alumnus Ashok Nehra, Managing Director of Bellz Instruments, was honored as COVID Warrior for his contribution during the pandemic.Cabinet Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma, MLAs Smt. Seema Trikha, Sh. Narender Gupta, Sh. Rajesh Nagar, Sh. Nayanpal Rawat, Political Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh.
