Punjab acclaimed first spot in crop residue management

Officials of Agriculture Department got the award

Chandigarh : Brought a Laurel for the state, the Punjab Agriculture Department has got the award for better crop residue management. Joint Director of Punjab Agriculture Department Mr. Sushil Kumar on Sunday received the award on behalf of Punjab Agriculture Minister Randeep Singh Nabha and every Punjabi farmer, who have contributed in this cause. The Govt has provided more than 86000 straw management machines to Cooperative (PACS), Gram panchayats, FPO’s, registered farmer groups and individual farmers.Farmers are also sensitised to curb the menace of stubble burning through training camps, wall paintings, school childeren debates, essay writing competition, poster writing competition, field machinery demonstrations and a campaign through mobile vans etc.The State has given recognition for efforts of sustainable agriculture development through stubble management during Progressive Agri Leadership Summit 2021.

Krishi Udyami Krishak Vikas Chamber, in collaboration with the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, and the Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd, hosted the Progressive Agriculture Leadership Summit-2021 today at the university.The chief guest Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, with guests of honour including Virender Kanwar, state Minister for Agriculture, JP Dalal, Haryana Agriculture Minister were also present in the summit.In addition, Vice-Chancellors from four universities, including the host university’s Dr. Parvinder Kaushal and those from Hisar, Jammu, and Bareilly, as well as representatives from the agri-industry and policymakers from the agriculture and fisheries departments of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, were also present.
Leadership Awards to States:
The Krishi Udyami Krishak Ratan Puraskar was given to states, progressive farmers and villages, states, educational organizations, corporates from the agriculture and allied sectors, Farmer Producer Organizations, and others to recognize and motivate the efforts of various stakeholders in the northern states who are working tirelessly and continuously to achieve sustainable agriculture development.This summit has provided a forum for states to share flagship programmes and relevant policy initiatives aimed at creating an optimal remunerative value chain for farmers and their well-being. Various states were awarded Leadership Awards for achieving excellence in the different categories.
