Haryana FDA succeeds in busting international racket selling spurious injection to cure cancer : Anil Vij

Chandigarh : Haryana Home, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that Haryana’s Food and Drug Administration Department has succeeded in busting an international racket selling spurious injections to cure cancer.
He said that this is the first case of its kind in which the accused have been arrested in a spurious drug case by a drug control officer and an international racket has been busted in three weeks. He said that a total of four accused, including a foreign national, have been arrested in this case so far.
Sh. Vij was addressing a press conference here in Chandigarh today. He said that on April 11, 2023, W.H.O. raised an alert that spurious injection ‘Defitelio 80 mg/ml, Batch no. 19G19A, Exp. 06/2023’ having the manufacturer’s label as ‘Genium Sri, Piazza XX, Septiembre 2, Villa Guardia, 22079, Italy’ is being marketed internationally.
Food & Drugs Administration, Haryana gathered information and laid a trap on April 21, 2023. A person namely Sandeep Bhui was nabbed in Gurugram vide selling spurious injection ‘Defitelio 80 mg/ml with the same batch number and manufacturer label to decoy customers for Rs. 2.50 Lakh.
He said that on April 21, 2023, an email was sent to the original manufacturer whose name and address were on the label. The manufacturing company replied that the product was not authentic and further disclosed that the same batch was also identified in the United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan.
After confirmation regarding spurious product injection Defitelio 80 mg/ml from the manufacturing company, accused Sandeep Bhui was arrested by Sh. Amandeep Chauhan, Drugs Control Officer, Gurugram under Section 27 b(i) read with 36-AC.
Sh. Vij said that accused Sandeep Bhui disclosed that he worked for Moti Ur Rahman Ansari, resident of Okhla, Delhi. On April 28, 2023 Moti Ur Rahman Ansari was arrested by Sh. Amandeep Chauhan, Drugs Control Officer, Gurugram.
On disclosure of Moti Ur Rahman Ansari, Kanishk Raj Kumar R/o 7/59, 1 Floor, Near Mata Mandir, Ramesh Nagar, Delhi was arrested by Drugs Control Officer, Gurugram on the intervening night of 09/10.05.2023 from ‘Heartland Pharmacy, Tower B, Unit no. 1124, 11th Floor, Thumb Tower, Sector – 62, Noida.
He said that record regarding the sale of spurious injection ‘Defitelio 80 mg/ml’ was also seized from the premises of accused Kanishk Raj Kumar. Accused Kanishk Raj Kumar disclosed that a Turkish citizen Mohammad Ali Tarmani has been visiting his office since January 2023.
He had been purchasing the drug in question from Mohammad Ali Tarmani at the rate of Rs. 1.75 Lakh and used to sell it to his customers at the rate of Rs. 2.50 Lakh. He further disclosed that he could get Mohammad Ali Tarmani arrested who is presently staying in a hotel in Mumbai.
Accused Kanishk Raj Kumar also gave mobile no. of Mohammad Ali Tarmani. Mobile number of Mohammad Ali Tarmani was put on surveillance and it was revealed that he was staying in a hotel in Colaba, Mumbai.
After that State Drugs Controller, Haryana contacted Sh. Hari Balaji, DCP, Zone-1, Mumbai and forwarded him all relevant documents of the case. Sh. Hari Balaji, DCP sent his team to the location of accused Mohammad Ali Tarmani where his stay was confirmed.
Colaba Police sent the photo of said Mohammad Ali Tarmani. The same was identified by accused Kanishk Raj Kumar and on confirmation Colaba Police detained the above said accused and brought him to Police Station, Colaba.
Sh. Amandeep Chauhan Drugs Control Officer, Gurugram has arrested the accused Mohammad Ali Turmani for Colaba, Mumbai with the help of Colaba Police and will be brought to Gurugram after completing all formalities.
It is also worthwhile to mention here that W.H.O. in its alert did not specify the origin of the spurious injection in question, therefore, accused Mohammad Ali Tarmani can be the key person for further investigation to know the origin of this spurious injection.
All the investigating officers were asked to explain within 15 days in the pending FIR case- Vij
In response to a question asked by media persons regarding the decisions taken in the recently held meeting of the Police Department, Sh. Vij said that about 3500 FIRs were pending for more than a year, an explanation has been sought from them as to why this investigation was pending.
All the investigating officers have been asked to explain in this regard within 15 days. Only after that, the decision will be taken by us.
Discussion held on enacting law for immigration agencies – Vij
He said that our police personnel give duty on the road. For this, a decision has been taken to make food arrangements for such police personnel on that spot and a budget will be sought.
Apart from this, he has given directions to the police officers for a survey of dilapidated police stations and outposts and the repair of old police buildings. He said that directions have been given to the police officers to crack down on immigration fraudsters and an SIT has been constituted in this regard.
Apart from this, there should be some law for immigration agencies under which they can be registered and inspected and checked. Similarly, the functioning of the Narcotics Bureau, STF has been reviewed in the meeting, he said.
Directions to Vigilance to check de-addiction centres- Vij
In response to a question regarding de-addiction centres, he said that these centres are run by the Social Welfare Department, but the Speaker of the Vidhansabha, Sh. Gyanchand Gupta had met him recently, on which Vigilance was asked to investigate all the centres including Panchkula.
Responding to a question regarding vehicles impounded in police stations, he said that directions have been given to frame a policy in this regard.
10 fraud hotspots in the country, 28 thousand cases linked from Nuh, 65 people arrested- Vij
Responding to a question regarding the Rs 100 crore fraud case, he said that the Haryana Police has done a great job and there are 10 such hotspots across the country from where such cyber frauds take place.
One of them was Nuh and we have caught these thugs by deputing 5000 police personnel and about 28 thousand cases are connected to it. He said that 65 people have been arrested in this case and teams have been formed to arrest 250 people.
He appreciated the police department and the Food and Drug Administration department for arresting the thugs and said that all these cases would be investigated.
Hooda Sahab leave our worries and worry about your party, which is divided into pieces- Vij
In response to a question regarding Hooda’s statement that Sh. Vij does not attend Chief Minister’s programs, he said that Sh. Hooda himself does not peep into his own party, he himself should tell how many days it has been since he met and talked to Selja and Kiran Chowdhary.
While I and the Chief Minister have talked daily, either in person or over the telephone. Tomorrow he has a program in Yamuna Nagar, he is going, and I am also going. Instead of worrying about us, Hooda Sahab should worry about his party which is completely divided into pieces.
He said that Surjewala, Kiran Chowdhary and Selja say something, and Hooda Sahab keeps on singing his own tune.

In response to the question asked regarding women wrestlers, he said that I myself have been the Sports Minister, and I am with the players of my state, I am with them completely, and so far no one has approached me.
So the Center Government is intervening in this matter and soon this matter will be settled. But if I am needed, I am available and I am with them. In response to a question about other parties going to the dharna site, he said that these people are doing politics and the job of some people is to do politics in one way or the other. We do politics to solve issues; they do politics to deteriorate issues.
