Ambala : Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said that “Haryana is the home/hub of sports, maximum sports are held here and Haryana’s land is 1.3 percent of the country’s land, and Haryana players won 50 percent of the medals in the Olympics.

He said that there is a hunger for medals among the players of Haryana, they need to be provided better sports infrastructure.This expression was made by the Home Minister in his address as the chief guest at the inauguration of State Championship swimming competitions at War Heroes Stadium, Ambala Cantonment today.

On this occasion, the officials of the Federation and the officials of the District Swimming Association felicitated the chief guest by presenting him a bunch of flowers and a memento.

*Players achieve mastery in competitions – Vij*

While inaugurating the competition, Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said that state level swimming competitions are starting here. I hope that the players achieve mastery in these competitions, which is our goal; Haryana players win more and more medals in the International Championship.

*State government provided better infrastructure to the players at a cost of Rs 454 crore- Vij*

He also said that in the last seven years, work has been done to provide better sports infrastructure to the players at a cost of Rs 454 crore. Work is being done to construct multi-purpose halls and new stadiums at all places.

*About one thousand sports nurseries were opened in schools- Vij*

He said that the biggest thing and what I think is that if we want to win the Olympics, then we have to participate in sports since childhood. For this our government has started sports nurseries in the state. About one thousand sports nurseries have been opened in schools.

From schools itself, children will have to participate in sports competitions according to their interests. We cannot come up in sports unless there are sports nurseries in schools. The Home Minister said that it is the endeavor of the Haryana Government that from the school level itself, children can be prepared to move forward in the sports world.

Where there are arrangements in schools, children should be made to work according to their sports interests to move ahead in the sports world and for this, sports nurseries should be made. He said that at present the Sports Minister is himself a player and he is working for the better facilities related to sports to the players.

*Competitions being held in all-weather swimming pool is a international level – Vij*

Home Minister Anil Vij said that the place where competitions have been started in Ambala Cantonment today is an all-weather swimming pool of international level. Competitions of Khelo India were also held here. People came here, who appreciated the swimming pool of international standard.

The President of the Federation himself has also appreciated and talked about getting the National Games organized here. He said that work is being done to build an international level FIFA-approved football stadium of northern India here.

Only a month or two of work is left. Although the football game is more in West Bengal, we have worked to build the best football stadium in North India here. Along with this, gymnastics hall and badminton hall have also been built here where Khelo India competitions were held.

Home and Health Minister Anil Vij congratulated all the players present for playing with the spirit of the game and said that he congratulates the players who win in advance. On this occasion, Joint Secretary, Indian Swimming Federation, Anil Khatri, while welcoming Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said that an international standard all-weather swimming pool has been built here for the players.

He said that due to the Home and Health Minister Anil Vij, about 60 needy players from Jind, Rohtak, Dadri and other places get free swimming here. He also informed that the state level swimming competitions being held here include 39 sub junior, 49 junior and 57 senior competitions.

Along with this, state level third men’s and women’s water polo competitions are being organized here. Around 750 players from 20 districts of Haryana are participating in all these competitions.

On this occasion, SDM Ambala Cantonment Dr. Balpreet Singh, District Swimming Association President Rajendra Vij, General Secretary Manmohan Sharma, Gulzar Mehta, District Sports and Youth Program Officer Ram Niwas, Mandal Pradhan Rajiv Dimple, Surendra Tiwari, Lalit Chaudhary, Ravi Chaudhary, Deepak Bhasin, Indersen Phogat, Shyam Sundar Arora along with other officials of the Federation were present.
