Governor inaugurates Chaitanya University through virtual platform

Shimla : Governor Bandaru Dattatraya Inaugurated Chaitanya Deemed to be University, Telangana through the virtual platform from Raj Bhavan, Shimla, today.On the occasion, he congratulated the University authorities of getting the Deemed to be University Status to Chaitanya Institution granted by MHRD and said that after 2010 only four institutions were granted this status of which Chaitanya was one among them. He said that the Institution imparting quality education reflects in the form of heavy demand for all courses by the students and campus placements which stands at 31st rank in placements in India.Shri Dattatraya expressed satisfaction that New Education Policy-2020 has been brought out after consulting lacs of intellectuals, conducting various meetings and seminars and obtaining suggestions. For the last three and a half decades the education policy has remained without major changes, he added and said that it was the first Education Policy of the 21st Century and aimed to address many growing developmental issues of the country. It was an exhaustive document revamping all aspects of education structure including regulations and governance to create a new system with aspirational goals of the 21st century, he added.“At a time when people across the globe did not have a rough idea of higher education, ancient India had “World Class Universities”, namely Takashasila, Nalanda, Vikramashila, Vallabi. and noted scholars such as Aryabhatta, Baskara Charya, Madava, Charaka, Susruta, Patanajali, etc.”, said the Governor.
The Governor hoped that with the implementation of NEP 2020 in toto we would definitely increase the quality of education in both professional and non-professional areas, enhance the knowledge and skills of the students to grab the employment opportunities all over India and abroad to meet the global challenges. He said that the main motto of “Education for all” would be visualized and he expressed satisfaction that Chaitanya (Deemed to be University) was already implementing some of the programs recommended by NEP 2020.Dr. Ch. V. Purushotham Reddy, Chancellor, Chaitanya, Deemed to be University welcomed the Governor and said that they were the first in the country to conduct the undergraduate and postgraduate final year examination and PhD eligibility test through ‘At-Home-exam’ in accordance with the UGC guidelines.Prof. G. Damodar, Vice-Chancellor thanked the Governor and said that the inaugural event would have taken place in April, but the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic deferred it.Registrar Prof. M.
