LPU’s Agriculture Entrepreneur invited at World Vegetable Center Consortium in Taiwan

Visited Taiwan to make agricultural research & development activities stronger than before

Jalandhar : Innovative agriculture entrepreneur of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Sumant Bindal was recently invited at World Vegetable Center Consortium in Taiwan to make agricultural research & development activities stronger than before. Asia and Pacific Seed Association (APSA) did facilitate his consortium membership.
LPU’s MSc Plant Breeding program pass out student Sumant is presently Director of RK Seed Farms (R). Well mentored at LPU, Sumant has deep interest in plant breeding for developing improved vegetable varieties.
While studying at LPU, Sumant was able to receive Australian National University’s {ANU’s) Rs One Crore+ Scholarship for PhD Programme. Worth mentioning, ANU offers PhD Scholarships only to a handful of scholars from across the world.
He utilized the knowledge gained in Australia at India’s vast agricultural fields for betterment of the country and its farmers. LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal congratulated Sumant in achieving rare milestones, time and again.
Expressing gratitude towards LPU’s Genetics & Plant Breeding Department; Sumant holds that without proper guidance at LPU, it would not have been possible for him to achieve such global recognition. He also shared that during one of the semesters at LPU, he got a six-month totally free research fellowship programme at the World Vegetable Center in Taiwan for fungal research on 65 types of Luffa (Tori) of 8 countries.
The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is an international agricultural research and development center, whose mission is to alleviate poverty and malnutrition in the world. It is aimed through increased production and consumption of nutritious, health-promoting vegetables, where ‘WorldVeg’ carries out its mission by forming varied research partnerships.
In fact, meritorious agriculture students like Sumant always possess deep regards for their Indian Council of Agriculture & Research (ICAR) accredited School of Agriculture for bestowing bright careers in the agriculture domain. It trains students in its own vast fields to learn about the latest trends and techniques in the agriculture sector.
Here, they can make practical learning as how to grow organic & fibre crops, hybrid plants, fruit and vegetables in modern hygienic ways. Students work tirelessly under the guidance of their faculty and staff members by utilizing big poly houses raised at the campus.
