Inter-college competition to promote STEM education organised at CGC Landran

Landran : Chandigarh College of Education, CGC Landran organised an inter-college competition with the objective of reinforcing students’ interest in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education today.

Sponsored by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, the competition saw the participation of more than fifty students from ten colleges including CGC. The competition which is among a number of related activities being regularly organised at CGC to promote

Mathematics since National Mathematics Day celebrations observed in December, consisted of categories including model making & showcasing, quiz competition, poster presentations, PowerPoint presentations on different mathematical theorems, problem statements etc.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Ms Rupinder Kaur, Assistant Director, Youth Services Department, Punjab. She was accompanied by Dr. P.N. Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC Landran, Dr. Sneh Bansal, Director Principal, CCE, CGC Landran and other dignitaries.

Highlighting the importance of the competition as a medium to fuel creativity, get experiential learning opportunities, stimulating young minds to think critically and come up with new inventions, Dr. Bansal lauded the participating students.

She encouraged them to channelize their interest in mathematics into projects which not just help promote STEM education but also inspire more students especially girls to opt for these subjects.The event concluded with the winners in various categories of the competition being felicitated with trophies and certificates.
