Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2022 begins at Nodal Centre CGC Landran

Landran : The grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2022 (SIH2022) – Software edition commenced at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran today. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of state for Education in the presence of Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE via video conference, at all 75 nodal centers including CGC Landran.

CGC Landran is the venue for covering problem statements of three ministries namely the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Indian Meteorological Department (MoD) and Ministry of Ports Shipping and Waterways.

CGC Landran is hosting around 200-plus students of 27 teams from different states, across India, who are competing with their counterparts in the other 74 nodal centers. The two day event will see participants code for 36 continuous hours.

The winners will be declared and felicitated tomorrow Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi will also be interacting with the finalists of this year’s SIH today evening through a video conference.

Dr Ravindra Kumar Soni, Adviser II, e-governance, AICTE, New Delhi, graced the inaugural ceremony at CGC Landran as Chief Guest. Mr Harit Mohan, CEO and Founder, Significant LLP was the guest of honour.

They were welcomed by Dr. P.N Hrisheekesha, Campus Director CGC Landran in the presence of management and other dignitaries. In his address to the participants, he encouraged them to contribute towards India’s development through their idea innovations, converting their innovations into start-up ventures and become job providers of tomorrow than mere job seekers.

He urged them to consider failure as their biggest teacher and never give up.This national level software product development competition would put the participating teams’ mental grit and technical prowess to the optimal test as they work to ideate and create innovative solutions for the nine problem statements put forth by the three ministries.

SIH-2022 is jointly organized by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, All India Council for Technical Education, Persistent Systems, and i4c. SIH has been acclaimed as the world’s biggest open innovation model and it seeks to inculcate the culture of product innovation and problem-solving among students.

This year’s SIH is offering a total of 476 problem statements received from 62 organizations. The grand finale will witness around 2,033 winning teams of campus level Hackathons organized under SIH-2022 comprising more than 15,000 students, participate at national level.

Each year, SIH is impacts lakhs of students and provides them a national platform to test their educational learnings in real-world problem-solving. It also aligns their interest toward Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Under the student innovation category three prizes of Rs. One Lakh, Rs. 75,000, and Rs. 50,000 will be provided to the winning teams. The scope of the Smart India Hackathon has been widening with every passing since its launch in 2017.

The increased enthusiasm among participating students and problem statement provider organizations can be seen in their growing participation over the years.
